Metal Festival Chalkwell Park

UPDATED Sun 26 Sep. We all had a great day at Chalkwell Park - the rain held off and it was definitely an event not to be missed. We have now updated the page with some pictures.

If you haven't been to the Village Green event before it is run by Metal and is the largest event in the area. This year it is going to be even bigger with a stage in the front field as well. Check out the Metal site for more detail.

All the demo's and workshops will be interactive, so you can join in, watch or just hang around to see what's going on.

Our area is going to be next to the main house and we have invited a whole bunch of local groups along to join us. We have Tai chi, a posture class, 2 yoga classes (including a childrens class) and childrens fencing as well as a variety of therapies including tui na.

The schedule of events is going to be as follows:

12:00    Tai Chi Demo and Workshop with Shi Kon Martial Arts

13:00    Yoga Demo and Workshop with Yoga Dharma

14:00    James from Little Musketeers

15:00    Karen from healthkt

16:00    Childrens Yoga with Yoga Dharma

We plan to have all sorts of therapies going on during the day and Ian will also be bringing on some of his eco friendly furniture - but we have to say the biggest thank you to our artist friends and yogis - Lisa and Natalie - who have given up their time to make the artwork we will have on display. Our contributors include the following:

Shi Kon Martial Arts

Gavin King from Shi Kon Martial Arts will be doing a Tai Chi demonstration at 12. Throughout the day shi kon will also be offering shiatsu treatments. More info on Shi Kon martial arts can be found here.

Little Musketeers

If you have primary school children in the area then you will doubtless have heard of the Little Musketeers. James is a former olympian and will be running a class at 14:00 that is open to all. You can find out more about the Little Musketeers here.

Karen from Healthkt

Karen is going to be running one of her popular Zest sessions at 15:00 - which will suit all abilities. Learning how to use your body correctly to body tone and tailor, ease joint pain and migraines and for overall health and wellbeing. Zest Posture for poise, Zest Stride for making every step count and Zest Swim to make a splash on your overall body fitness here.

Tui Na Chinese Medical Massage

Steve Coster will be demonstrating Tui Na, or Chinese Medical Massage, throughout the day. Tui Na is an ancient healing art that employs the use of the hands to press on key points on the surface of the body to stimulate the body's own natural healing process. One of the main branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tui Na differs from other forms of massage in that it is used to treat specific illnesses of an internal nature as well as musculoskeletal ailments.

NHS Health Trainer Service

Our good friends at the NHS Health Trainer Service will be there all day to answer any questions you may have. More details can be found here.
