Yoga and Wellbeing Resources

Yoga and Wellbeing Resources (29)

It's not just about yoga. Yoga Dharma offer a number of therapies and services. Within this section you will find lots of information for your health, well-being and of course those little tips to help improve your practice.

We are also offering you the opportunity to get some of your pictures and wording up in lights. Experienced teachers, new teachers, forward thinking students and all you therapists and specialists out there; if you feel you have something to contribute to our collection of advice and notes please drop us a note via our contacts page or pop in to the shop and we will give you some more detail.

Alternatively if you just want to contribute to our pages in the form of comments then feel free to do so. If you don't have a login then set one up, if you do have a login then you are ready to go. We are looking for comments particularly in the asana section. Tell us about your practice, tell us about where your focus or your drishti lies. Where we have images available please feel free to add comments whether good or bad. There are a number of variances across different disciplines as well that we would like to hear about so please add some of your background as well. Do you go for the toes in trikonasana or not? that is the sort of question we would love to hear a debate on.

The only thing we would ask is that you are constructive not destructive. If somebody's sternum isn't raised then it is ok to say so - just be helpful.

That's the yoga way.

Vinyasa Krama

Written by martin
Krishnamacharya used the term Vinyasa Krama to describe his yoga method.  It is a Sanskrit term that has a rich meaning.
Vinyasa means art.  In Vinyasa Krama the body and breath are brought together in beautifully orchestrated motion. Vinyasa also means variation.  In Indian music, the word vinyasa is used to describe variations upon a theme. Vinyasa Krama uses numerous variations of each posture to gracefully explore the possibilities of the body.
Krama means order or method.  In Vinyasa Krama, postures are organised in a logical sequence.  Each posture can be first experienced through the easier vinyasas and then gradually mastered by moving through all the variations.  In this way the body is opened up in a gentle process, achieving deep transformation without force or injury.
