BACK BENDS FOR BEGINNERS
This workshop will demonstrate and enable safe and effective strategies for effective back bending to students, student teachers and existing teachers.
Essentially alignment for all back bends is the same, and this workshop will begin with the basic building blocks to allow safe progress for correctly aligned postures.
CAREFULL PREPARATION
Back bending can easily go wrong and the result will have the opposite effect and fail on all levels. Careful preparation is essential to prepare the body for individual progress.
A combination of strength and flexibility is required, and this workshop includes a full range of asanas and stretches to ensure the body is fully prepared.
If you wish to advance your practice, understand alignment and learn how to adapt back bends for all levels this workshop is a must.
SUBTLE ANATOMY
The role of the subtle body in relation to back bends is addressed through Nadis, Prana and Chakras. The second series of Ashtanga Vinyasa is called Nadi Shodhana, or nerve cleansing. Back bending works directly on the subtle energy channels (Nadis) for efficient distribution of Prana via Chakras (energy distributors)
BACK BENDS, WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Maintaining a healthy spine has many health benefits. Back bending helps keep the spine healthy by stimulating the flow of Cerebrospinal fluid. The spine houses the central nervous system. A healthy spine is integral to carrying out the daily functions. Back problems keep people off work. There are many more reasons to keep the spine fit and mobile.
