HATHA YOGA PRADIPIKA

Hatha Yoga Pradipika-Typically, the HYP consists of four chapters which instructs on Asana, Pranayama, Mudras and Samadhi. This workshop will include an introduction from a more comprehensive version with extra chapters and instruction on Pratyahara for example.

HISTORY OF HATHA YOGA

This workshop traces the history of Hatha Yoga and attempts to dismiss some of the accepted myths around Hatha Yoga. For example, Hatha Yoga is often linked to an easier version of yoga, rather than all physical yoga.

Hatha yoga properly means force and vigour and requires the practitioner to be devoted. Hatha yoga is a science and therefore the name Hatha Vidya, or science of yoga properly applies.

EMANCIPATION

The Hatha Yoga Pradipika was compiled by Yogi Swatmarama around the 15th-16th century, and sets out a path to emancipation through Asana, Mudra, Bandha, Pranayama and Shatkarmas. The practices strengthen the gross body and cleanses the subtle body.

INFORMATIVE SUMMERY

The workshop delivers a detailed and informative summery on the HYP with detailed and concise definitions on the practices outlined in the text.

Your workshop presenter Martin Thompson has over 45 years of yoga practice and study. His main role is leading the teacher training from the Yoga Dharma schools in Essex, Nottingham and Veliko Tarnovo.

The workshop will come with a course handout.
