Although kundalini does not belong to the physical body, it is connected to it, neither can it be located within the mental body or the subtle body. Its dwelling is the causal body (seed of the subtle body), in which notions including space, form and time are lost.

PRANAYAMA KRAMA

Yoga Philosophy of Patanjali 1.31

Sorrow, dejection, restlessness of body, inhalation and exhalation arise from (previous) distractions.

This sutra refers to the natural process of inhalation and exhalation. When done unconsciously or unwillingly it is detrimental to concentration.  

Regulated breathing, or controlled inhalation and exhalation (samavritti) which is practiced for bringing about concentration through pranayama is not likely produce disturbances or obstacles.

KRAMA VINYASA

Yoga Philosophy of Patanjali II-47

by making the breath smooth (and long), and focusing the mind on the breath, the perfection of the posture is obtained.

There are four parameters in vinyasa krama:

  • Sthira (steadiness)
  • Suhka (comfort)
  • Prayatna (effort)
  • Saithilya (smooth long breathing).

Krishnamacharya interpreted sutra II-47 as focusing the mind on the breath and not on the asana or posture, as some teachers might suggest
