RECOMENDED

I’d highly recommend teacher training with Yoga Dharma. I’ve done both my 200hr teacher training and also 100hr pranayama training and have loved both. The training is comprehensive, covering all aspects of history, theory, the eight limbs, and a big focus on alignment, anatomy and teaching practice.Laura Birch 2018

THE SCIENCE OF PRANAYAMA

We believe our courses go beyond with methodically researched and presented content.

JALANDHARA BANDHA

“Jalandhara bandha influences the parasympathetic nervous through contracting the throat when dropping the chin to the chest. This stimulates the carotid sinuses triggering the parasympathetic nervous system which lowers blood pressure and slows the heart rate. The effect of not applying these safety mechanisms through Jalandhara bandha could damage delicate blood vessels in the brain.” Martin Thomson.

MULHA BANDHA

“Applying bandhas influences the nervous system with Mulha bandha stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system via the pelvic splanchnic nerves. The parasympathetic nervous system will slow the heart rate, relax the respiratory system and calm the mind, all essential for a pranayama practice.” Martin Thompson.
