EXCERTS FROM SOME OF OUR COURSE PRESENTATIONS
“Martin is a brilliant teacher. His knowledge and expertise on the practical, philosophical and historical elements of yoga are second to none”
PHYSIOLOGY OF KUMHAKA
“Chemoreceptors, found in the respiratory centre at the base of your brain, monitor levels of C02 and O2 by detecting changes in the pH levels of the cerebral spinal fluid“
“Through the build-up of Co2 the capacity to retain the breath is limited. According to Haldane .01 percent change in C02 brings change in action of the respiratory system.” Martin Thompson 2018.
“Holding the breath creates a response called cerebral anoxia. The capillaries, where gas exchange takes place are not all working at the same time, so when the brain calls for more oxygen, the resting capillaries respond through cerebral vasodilation. This relaxes smooth muscle widening blood vessels, and increasing blood flow to a particular part of the body most in need”. Martin Thompson 2018.

YOUR 15 DAYS
Your 15 days will inspire you to reach your potential while equipping you with first class knowledge and skills. The course is structured in step by step logical process (vinyasa krama) in preparation for the final class assessments.
“The teachers adapted their approach to suit all our individual abilities” Dan, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.
On arrival we’ll welcome you with refreshments following your journey. We continue with a tour around the centre, allocating rooms and discussing a few house guidelines. Time is available for Q&A’S before a restorative class and a short meditation which is followed by dinner.
“The literature, education materials, methods of teaching during the training, were to the highest level” Ania 2010.
Day two begins with a full practice and this is our opportunity to plan how to advance your practice over the 15 days. If your new to yoga philosophy its ok, as we begin with introductory presentations. If your not so new to this there’s plenty of scope to express this, or we may break off into smaller groups.
“Study yoga philosophy in a very open, non-dogmatic way” Judith 2017.
During the course of the first 7-8 days the presentations and general structure of the course is set to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for your final assessment. The focus of the second 6 or so days is to practice as much as you need to fine tune your assessment.
Learning will still take place but space is provided within the structure to focus on that final class assessment.
“The training structure and format was excellent” Kirk 2014.
